This 29cm Full Size Greenstone Mere Patu Club is made from New Zealand Nephrite Jade (Pounamu), originating from the West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand.
It has a rope cord.
We only have one, so do not delay ordering. Our usual supplier is struggling to keep up with demand, so we have pulled in another carver, but even then, we only have this one mere. The larger pieces of greenstone are hard to come by, and it is not until the mere is polished that any imperfections show up. So a mere pounamu can be painstakingly carved, then rejected because of a crack or an impurity in the stone. Heartbreaking stuff, and when they come through without any problems, it is exciting.

The mere was used by Maori as a thrusting club, particularly to attack the victim's temple or under his ribs. The pounamu ( greenstone) mere has always been highly prized, because of its scarcity and the amount of work required to make it. It was usually only carried by chiefs, and was a highly prized ceremonial piece.

We do not take any responsibility for mis-use such as dropping it or hanging it from the wrist cord. It is made for holding in your hand or putting on a stand.

Shipping Times during Covid-19
Currently (January 2021), Airmail to Australia and the USA is taking about 5 weeks, and Airmail to the UK and Europe is taking 6-7 weeks. Airmail to South America is at least 8 weeks, and allow up to 12 weeks.
Economy Courier and Express Courier are up to 10 working days worldwide.
As always, we do not guarantee Airmail or Courier shipping times, as they are beyond our control.
Courier shipping times within New Zealand are approximately one working day to the North Island, 2 working days to the South Island (with an overnight option available at a different price), and up to 3 days to rural areas.
