This Maori Bone Manaia Necklace has a beautifully carved fish body.  The Manaia is a Maori supernatural being, ( pronounced Ma-nigh-uh).  The Manaia is a spiritual guardian, to ward off danger and protect against intruders.  It acts as a provider and protector over the sky, earth and sea.

Manaia usually have bird-like figures.  Others may have bird heads and human bodies.  This one has a fish body, representing the Manaia's protection over the sea.

This particular Manaia is carved with fish scales and has a finely carved tail, with Paua ( abalone) shell for its eye.  It is carved on the front only.

The Manaia pendant is approximately 6cm (2 3/8") long, and comes to you on a traditional black adjustable cord.  It also comes to you on a descriptive card, so you can always remember its spiritual meaning.

Shipping Times during Covid-19

Currently (January 2021), Airmail to Australia and the USA is taking about 5 weeks, and Airmail to the UK and Europe is taking 6-7 weeks.  Airmail to South America is at least 8 weeks, and allow up to 12 weeks.
Economy Courier and Express Courier are up to 10 working days worldwide.
As always, we do not guarantee Airmail or Courier shipping times, as they are beyond our control.
Courier shipping times within New Zealand are approximately one working day to the North Island, 2 working days to the South Island (with an overnight option available at a different price), and up to 3 days to rural areas.
