This Maori Bone Koru Necklace is a beautiful 2-sided design from Peter Mitchell, who descends from the Ngati Toa iwi of Porirua.
Peter carves these beautiful cow bone necklaces with one design on the front and a different design on the back. Two necklaces in one!
Peter is a master carver, having carved for museums and exhibitions over the past 30 years. We are lucky to have a few of his pieces.
The front of this round necklace has two large notched Koru carved into it.
The back of the necklace has one Koru carved into it.
The koru design carries a spiritual meaning. The koru design represents the unfurling new fern shoot, and signifies peace, tanquility, new beginnings, and positive change. This makes it a great gift for the new parent, or someone starting on a new journey in life.
The necklace measures approximately 3.5cm (1 3/8") in diameter.
Peter doesn't bleach his carvings to a pure white, so you will still see the natural striations in the bone.

Currently (January 2021), Airmail to Australia and the USA is taking about 5 weeks, and Airmail to the UK and Europe is taking 6-7 weeks. Airmail to South America is at least 8 weeks, and allow up to 12 weeks.
Economy Courier and Express Courier are up to 10 working days worldwide.
As always, we do not guarantee Airmail or Courier shipping times, as they are beyond our control.
Courier shipping times within New Zealand are approximately one working day to the North Island, 2 working days to the South Island (with an overnight option available at a different price), and up to 3 days to rural areas.
