This Maori Tekoteko with Patu Trophy stands approximately 44cm (17 1/4") tall. The base it stands on measures approximately 19.5cm x 9cm x 2cm (7 3/4" x 3 5/8" x 3/4").
A tekoteko is a freestanding figure that you normally see on top of a Maori meeting house, or at the gate to a marae. Its purpose is to watch over the entrance to a marae or meeting house, challenging visitors. If the visitors are deemed friendly, the tekoteko offers protection.
This tekoteko is made from native timber, has paua shell eyes, and holds a patu (Maori club) in a challenging stance.
Purchase the trophy on its own, or we can engrave it for you (up to 5 words). Enter the details in the Options box above. Choose from engraving into the wood, or an engraved metal plaque.
