Note from Lesley: I took a pair of these on a 10-day trip to Canada. I took other socks, but these were the only pair I ended up wearing.  For three reasons.  Number one, they are nice and thick and kept my feet warm.  Number two, the brilliance of merino at being antibacterial.  As gross as this might sound, I wore these for days and they did not smell. At all.  Ideal for tramping, hiking, or wherever washing facilities are limited.  And number three, you can still fling them in the washing machine when you finally do wash them.  Best to air dry though.
