I love, love, love this Row, Row, Row Your Waka Book and CD.  Love it!  I'd happily buy it for friends' kids anywhere, boys and girls, and a few adults too.  This would be a great way for some adults to learn a bit of Maori, and they can learn it as they teach it to their kids.

Row Row Row Your Waka follows the tune of the classic "Row Row Row Your Boat" song, but gives it a New Zealand Maori twist.  A pukeko, pukeko and hoiho (yellow eyed penguin) row their waka down the river, encountering kai moana, Australian creatures, Tangaroa, a taniwha, and the Matariki stars.

The book is in English first, and then Maori.  At the back is a pictorial index of all the elements in the book (Waikato river, Tuna, etc) and a description of what those are.  And at the very back is a lovely CD, with the song words in English and then in Maori.

You can't go wrong with this book, they have thought of everything.  Play the CD first if you like, turning the pages of the book as you go.  As you grow more confident, read it from the book instead.

This is a book that you could give to kids overseas too.  They would no doubt pick up the Maori words very quickly.
