It's made from 35% possum fur, 55% fine merino wool and 10% Mulberry silk, giving you warmth without weight, and keeping the yarn content all natural.

The brushtail possum was introduced into New Zealand in the late 1800s, for the fur trade, but quickly escaped and multiplied at a far greater rate than in its native Australia. The animal quickly took to our native vegetation and bird life, killing our native birds and stripping trees until they died. New Zealand is now actively trying to rid itself of this pest, but it is an uphill battle.  So thank you for helping to save our native Kiwi and other birds, by buying possum fur clothing.  Possum fur is warmer than wool, as its hollow fibre traps heat within it.

The super fine merino wool is very soft and very warm, as is Mulberry silk.  Together you get lightweight warmth.

In December 2019 I went to Vancouver Island for Christmas, and everywhere I went, people asked me about my poncho.  And I so loved wearing it.  In fact I was quite shocked at how warm it was.  And of course it is incredibly comfortable to wear.
