This Womens Possum Merino Poncho with Metallic Detail is from the McDonald Collection.

The plain knit, asymmetric poncho is dressed up with a moss stitch line running through it, within which is a subtle silver thread.

It's a totally natural piece of clothing, made from 55% superfine merino wool, 35% hollow possum fur, and 10% Mulberry Silk.  

Make the most of what nature does naturally.  The combo of super fine merino wool, brushtail possum fur and Mulberry Silk is warmer than wool alone.  It's also softer and smoother than the coarser varieties of wool.  And there's the natural stretch and rebound of wool and silk to make the poncho stay in shape.

The brushtail possum, introduced into New Zealand in the 1800s, has decimated the native bird population, as well as our native forests.  So in order to save our native, iconic Kiwi bird, we have to get rid of this introduced pest.  Luckily we can make use of their fur - something good out of something bad.
